Botanical Pen & Watercolour with Afternoon Tea at Culland Hall and Gardens Thursday 18 June 2026

You are invited to the beautiful grounds of the private estate of Culland Hall Gardens for a three-hour workshop creating beautiful botanicals in pen and watercolour with Kate Dawes, followed by Afternoon Tea. 

Culland Hall Gardens are strongly influenced by the gardens of Sissinghurst Castle and are featured in the "English Gardens" book.

A relaxed pen & watercolour workshop.  Suitable for all abilities. 
 Small workshops - max 12 people. 
 
Kate will show you different techniques of pen drawing along with how to overlay with 'dry' watercolour to create beautiful botanical art.  All materials are provided. 
 
The workshop will be split into two phases - firstly pen drawing and then 'dry' watercolour. It will start with Kate showing you different pen drawing styles.  She will help guide you to find a pen technique that suits you. 
 
Once you have done some pen drawing, Kate will help you find the best watercolour technique to complement your pen work. 
 
She will offer individual support and guidance throughout the session, to help everyone develop their personal style, understand composition, colour mixing, and achieve a more confident approach to art. 
 
We plan to head into the gardens, and flowers and foliage will be provided by Culland Hall to work from and to inspire you so by the end of the workshop, you will have created a A4 botanical artwork to take home with you. 

Suitable for all abilities from absolute beginners to the more experienced artist, who would like to try a new technique and approach to art.  All materials supplied.
