Join me at award winning The Tawny Hotel, Staffordshire as part of their curated winter event season. I'll be running a Wintery Botanical Pen Drawing and Watercolour Workshop at this stylish luxury hideaway on Sunday 24th November. The event will be a two-hour art workshop followed by a delicious afternoon tea.
Tucked away in 70 acres of picturesque gardens and woodlands, this deconstructed hotel is the perfect spot to create botanical and floral art. The art workshop will be held upstairs in the architectural statement Plumicorn building. The glass fronted building is located at the top of the valley, and has unparalleled views across the landscape of the Consall Garden Estate. Afternoon Tea will served downstairs in the restaurant.
My Pen and Watercolour workshop will use locally foraged berries, foliage and seasonal flowers as inspiration along with the flora of the stunning gardens of The Tawny.
I’ll be showing participants different drawing techniques as well as a ‘dry’ watercolour method to help them create their own beautiful artwork.
The workshop will be split into two phases - firstly pen drawing and then 'dry' watercolour. I'll start by showing you different pen drawing styles, and will help guide you to find a pen technique that suits you.
Once you have done some pen drawing, I'll help you find the best watercolour technique to complement your pen work.
I offer individual support and guidance throughout the workshop, to help everyone develop their personal style, understand composition and achieve a more confident approach to art. By the end of the workshop you will have created an A4 botanical artwork to take home with you.
Suitable for everyone, from absolute beginners to more experienced artists, who would like to try a new technique and approach to art.
To book your space on 24 November please head to the The Tawny Hotel website and book on this page. This is open to everyone including those wishing to visit for the day, along with hotel guests.
Please get in touch if you’d like know more about my work or are interested in attending this or one of my other Kate Dawes Studio pen drawing and watercolour workshops or would like me to run one for your event or group.
